Is JetBlue's EvenMore® Worth It for Families? An Honest Review

JetBlue has long been a favorite among families, thanks to its free Wi-Fi, kid-friendly entertainment, and complimentary snacks. But when it comes to maximizing comfort, especially on longer hauls, many travelers consider upgrading to JetBlue's EvenMore® seats. In this article, we'll delve into what these seats offer, the premium extras, and whether they're worth the additional expense for your family's next adventure.

What Are JetBlue's EvenMore® Seats?

JetBlue's EvenMore® seats are located in the main cabin but offer significantly more room to stretch out compared to standard economy seats. Depending on the aircraft, these seats provide up to 7 inches of additional legroom, with seat pitches ranging from 35 to 39 inches. This extra space can be particularly beneficial for families with children or travelers who value added comfort.

As of January 28, 2025, JetBlue rebranded its Even More Space offering to "EvenMore®," enhancing the experience with more benefits beyond just the extra space. These seats are typically located at the front of the aircraft, either directly behind the Mint cabin or in prime locations at the front of the aircraft for quick boarding and deplaning. The Benefits of EvenMore® Seats

Upgrading to EvenMore® seats comes with several benefits designed to enhance your travel experience:

1. Extra Legroom

The most notable feature is the increased legroom. EvenMore® seats offer up to 7 inches of additional space, so that you can stretch out comfortably. More legroom can make a significant difference on any flight but particularly longer hauls,.

2. Early Boarding

EvenMore® passengers are among the first to enter the plane, which is especially advantageous for families needing extra time to settle in or those carrying on luggage. Early entry ensures access to overhead bin space and a more relaxed boarding process.

3. Priority Security with "More Speed"

Available at select airports, the "More Speed" benefit provides access to expedited security lines, saving valuable time during the check-in process. This benefit is included with EvenMore® seats and can also be purchased separately or comes automatically with Blue Extra or Mint fares.

4. Dedicated Overhead Bin Space

EvenMore® seats come with designated overhead storage space, ensuring that your carry-on items are stored directly above your seat. This convenience eliminates the stress of finding space for your belongings and allows for quicker access upon landing.

5. Complimentary Alcoholic Beverages and Premium Snacks

Passengers seated in EvenMore® enjoy up to three complimentary alcoholic beverages per trip, along with an assortment of premium snacks like Tiny Tates Chocolate Chip Cookies. In order to activate the complementary beverages and premium snacks benefit your must be flight must be 250 miles or more.

This happens to be a newer benefit that we while we traveled after this announcement we did not really experience this perk. We were not offered alcoholic beverages and we had the same snacks as everyone else on the plane. I'm curious to see if this was just a fluke because it was right after the change and will be on the look out for this on our next trip.

It would be nice to see some premioum add-ons available for EvenMore®. Previously, when you purchased these extra space seats, you would receive the same exact experience on board as all of the other passengers. These additional benefits could add a touch of luxury to your travel experience. (JetBlue Newsroom)

6. Complimentary Headphones

Upon request, EvenMore® passengers receive complimentary headphones, enhancing the in-flight entertainment experience without additional cost. Now this is particularly interesting and a benefit I'll be trying on our next trip. The joy of not having to sort through head sets to find one that fits the older jacks is a really nice to have.

I went ahead and purchased the AirFly Wireless Converter for our last adventure and oh my goodness! I was skeptical at first but after my first try I am a convert. This little beauty is now one of my must have travel tech essentials.

7. Proximity to the Front of the Plane

Being seated at the front not only facilitates early entry but also allows for quicker deplaning, a significant advantage when traveling with children or tight connections. Truth be told, this is truly one of my favorite benefits to selecting EvenMore® space seats when we arrange our travel.

The ease of being one of the firsts on and off of the plane cannot be overstated.

How to Book an EvenMore® Seat

Choosing an EvenMore® space seat is straightforward:

  • During Booking: When purchasing your ticket on JetBlue's website or mobile app, you'll have the option to select EvenMore® space seats during the seat selection process.

  • After Booking: If you've already purchased your ticket, you can log into your JetBlue account and manage your booking to upgrade your seat.

During the seat selection process you can choose your EvenMore® space seat

For additional context, I typically choose Blue as our fare class for the benefit of not having change or cancellation fees. If for any reason I think we're going to need to check our bags, I'll level up to Blue Plus and then add on EvenMore®.

As a cost savings measure you can choose the Blue Basic fare and then add EvenMore®. We'd suggest only going with Blue Basic fare if you are certain you don't have to worrry about change or cancelation fees.

Note: If you've arranged your travel through an agent or third-party website, you may need to contact JetBlue directly to upgrade to EvenMore® seats. In our experience, we had to log into JetBlue's website to handle seat upgrades ourselves.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of upgrading to EvenMore® seats varies based on several factors, including route, demand, and booking time. Prices can range from as low as $15 to over $200.

In our personal experience:

  • Trips to Orlando and Texas: Approximately $70 per ticket.

  • Longer Trip to California: $149 for a middle seat and $174 for an aisle seat.

For our family of three, the total upgrade cost for our last trip to California was about $500 extra on top of our $1,400 base fares. The price increase seems closely tied to the distance, with longer trips commanding higher upgrade fees.

Family Travel Considerations

We have always viewd JetBlue as family friendly which is why we have been loyal customers since we started traveling with our little guy. Here's why:

  • The airline’s focus on family travel, options, and loyalty program make it an attractive option for families. Our little guy earns trueblue points. That's right, he's been earning miles since I realized it was an option and enrolled him. We happen to pool our miles for future use.

  • JetBlue’s family travel policies make it easy for families to travel together, with features like guaranteeing that a child under 13 sits with their accomanying adult for no additinal fee.

  • The airline’s kid-friendly entertainment options, including live TV and movies, are available on flights longer than two hours.

  • JetBlue’s unaccompanied minor policy allows children aged 5-14 to travel alone, with guidance and assistance provided by the airline’s staff.

  • Families can earn TrueBlue points on eligible JetBlue purchases, including flights, car rentals, and JetBlue Vacations packages.

  • Your stroller and car seat can be checked at the gate and do not count towards your carry on bag or checked bag allowance

  • The destinations, we've come to rely on JetBlue to get us where ever we want to go and are always pleased with the variety of locations that we can jet of to.

  • There are power outlets at your seat and depending on your aircraft you'll find USB chargers in the seatback in front of you. I can't overstate how important the power outlets are when traveling with so many devices.

Why We Choose EvenMore® (Even at a Premium Price)

We began flying JetBlue's now EvenMore® seats after our son aged out of the under-two early boarding benefits. We wanted to maintain the early entry benefits and discovered that the extra space was invaluable for traveling with a young child and all his gear.

Over time, we've come to appreciate the upgrade because:

  • Enhanced Comfort: The additional space makes any trip, especially longer ones, significantly more comfortable.

  • Priority Boarding: Being among the first to board early reduces stress and ensures that there is ample overhead bin space for our carry-on items.

  • Cost-Effective Luxury: We receive similar benefits to Blue Extra or Mint customers at a fraction of the cost. And here I'm talking about the More Speed or Priority Security which would otherwise, come at additional cost.

  • Premium Benefits: Complimentary drinks and snacks add value to the travel experience. While non-alcholic drinks have always been avialble, the complementary alcoholic beverages is a new addition along with the premiuim snacks.

Downsides to EvenMore®

While we genuinely enjoy the extra room and other benefits, it's important to note:

  • No Exclusive Lounge Access: JetBlue doesn't offer dedicated lounges for EvenMore® passengers, unlike some other airlines' premium economy services. In fact, JetBlue is just adding lounges to it's offering this year with one at it's hub at JFK in New York and the other in Boston.

  • Early indications are that even once the lounges come on line, EvenMore® passengers will not be allowed in. The lounges are tarageted at those with a top level Mosaic® status and their new premiuim credit card offering. Essentially, it's like it's not happening for those of us who are EvenMore® fans.

  • Standard In-Flight Amenities: Beyond the additional benefits mentioned, EvenMore® passengers receive the same in flight entertainment and standard snacks as other economy passengers. That is until proven otherwise once we experience the elevated snack and beverage offerings.

Essentially, you're paying for enhanced space and early entry privileges, not a full premium service.

Final Verdict: Is JetBlue's EvenMore® Worth It for families?

For us, the answer is a resounding yes—especially for longer trips. The added comfort, early entry, and extra room significantly enhance the travel experience, making it well worth the additional cost.

If you're seeking a premium economy-like experience without the paying the cost of a first class flight, JetBlue's EvenMore® seats offer excellent value. With its free wi-fi, complimentary snacks, and priority boarding, JetBlue is a great choice for families looking for a comfortable and convenient flying experience.
